A couple of weeks ago I was able to do some sketches, one at work that I used watercolor pencil with and one at Washington Park. I may add color, but I haven’t decided.

After that it snowed. I could only get shots of it at night.

And then I got slammed with homework. A LOT of homework. Here’s one of them. We had to create a mood board for a classmate we hadn’t met until that day. We had 30 minutes to interview each other and come up with an idea of what to do for them as far as styling an outfit. I used lots of mixed media and Polyvore to create the Owl Sweater outfit. I’ll find out tomorrow if I got her style right or not. Eek!

EDM #4: Draw your mug or cup. I drew my favorite tea cup over a section of an old painting, then used watercolors to paint in the flowers on the cup, the paints in the tray, the case, and the ball of yarn. This was a fun experiment and I am a little sad that I traded it with another artist today.

I spent my lunch hour today with the local painting group. They are an amazing group of artists and encouragers. While there today I drew EDM #5, draw your bed over another piece of the same painting I cut up for the above painting. The bed actually isn’t mine as in the one I sleep in every night. But it is a bed I slept in while at Mary Jane’s Farm in Moscow, Idaho. My friend Mary and I went several years ago to the Fourth of July FarmGirl Gathering and were planning on throwing sleeping bags down in the hay field and sleeping out there. Mary Jane Butters heard that and offered us the two extremely comfy queen beds in the plum pit. Sleeping on feathers under the stars with the breeze blowing mosquito netting around me was incredible. And waking to filtered sunlight through the plum trees and chickens clucking around the remains of the fire was perfect. Very few mornings in my life can compete with the peacefulness and the sense of home of those two mornings.

EDM #2 Challenge

Here is my second EDM sketch. The background is from a painting I did of roses about two years ago. The drawing I did around 11:30 last night. I like it though.

Visited with my Dad and stepmom today. We had Mexican food, then went to Goodwill, then got coffee. And Dad hooked up my VCR so now I can watch all the Christmas movies I planned on watching in December! LOL! Also, they brought me a bunch of my grandmother’s old Christmas ornaments to go through. They are all so vintage and beautiful! Will have a lazy rest of the day. Play some Fable 3, do some drawing, maybe spin up some more yarn. *sigh*

Just discovered the EDM (Everyday Matters) Art Challenge and decided to start at the beginning of the list and see what happens.

I have several paintings I had done when I was first learning watercolors. They are awful as themselves, but I have cut them up into the artist trading card size and have taken to sketching on them, trying out new ideas. What a perfect way to take on these challenges! So here’s a picture of my first assignment: Draw a Shoe.
